"I'm an Indian when i play my drum..."
Wow! yellow indians is here! What a fun and learning-filled semester this will be for your children. This semester it is critical for them to learn to practice everyday as well as mastering our chords and the transitions for red, to blue to yellow in both hands. Yes, the left hand gets its turn this semester. Its so amazing to me how fast they learn the left hand, since the right hand has done all the work in green turtle shells, the brain learned for the left hand and now it gets its time to shine! whoooo hooo! If you haven't taken off the right hand stickers, we need to begin the weening process. so, start with red chord (RH), then the next week take of blue and they yellow.
Remember the recital is Thursday April 30th. Just keep cheering on your cuties! they are doing fabulous!

Lesson 3 and 4
WOW! They are learning so much! Can you believe they are learning to play red chords! They are so excited about learning to play Old Paint. Yesterday, was harmony at its best and why I love teaching lets play music. Both classes sang their hearts out to Horsey, Horsey, while I sang the countermelody. They did soooo good, that I pulled the mom's that were early from their vehicles to come and watch! Those mom's who witnessed such wonderful harmony please tell us how exciting it was to see them in action!
As far as the red chord, make sure to help your child lift their fingers 2 and 4 while they play 1, 3 and 5. Also, if they just are having a hard time doing all at the same time, have them say and play 1, 3, 5 separately. This will tell the brain 1, 3 and 5 and eventually they will be able to press all three fingers down at the same time. I tried this with my own daughter who was having a pretty hard time doing them all together, we tried separately and the fingers started to connect with what the mind was learning after about 4-5 times. They are all doing great! Keep up the good work and practicing!
